Description
We all have our own shadows and dark places inside us. However, there is always an inner light that can never be extinguished by the darkness. This image reminds me that there is beauty in all of the shadows, darkness, and light that we encounter.
When you enter Lower Antelope Canyon on Navajo Tribal Lands near Page, Arizona you are entering a world of shadow and light. Navajo tradition holds that the canyon was formed by the actions of the Holy People, who created the unique rock formations, the narrow passageways, and the light beams that filter throughout the canyon. The Navajo believe that Antelope Canyon was created as a way of connecting with nature and the spirit world. They believe that the canyon is a place where the spirit world and the physical world intersect, and where the balance of natural forces can be felt. The Navajo people also believe that the canyon is a place of great power, and that it is necessary to approach it with respect and humility.
In scientific terms, the canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to flash flooding and other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. The results are nothing less than spectacular.

Revisiting to vote for “Favorite Art” contest.(Wait for closer to end date to submit so I don’t have to go through several hundred images to get to yours. 😂 Don’t need to look for mine. I don’t do all inclusive media contest.)

Thank you for voting, I ALWAYS vote for any of your images because I recognize them right away. Your excellence is obvious.
